Laura Benson has her life together, thank you very much. Her jewelry store in San Francisco is doing wonderfully. Her design skills will soon have her traveling to London, designing a new line that should build her reputation world wide.
She's on top, which is where she likes to be - especially when it comes to men. Since giving her fiance his ring back a year ago, Laura has kept her relationships light, and short. Sexy pilot Smoke Hamilton might be hot, but she doesn't need a Mr Right, just Mr Right Now. She doesn't need a man holding her down.
From the moment he first saw her, Smoke knew Laura was his kind of sexy. What he hadn't banked on was her being his kind of smart, with a sassy mouth too. He usually prefers his women 'nice and easy', but Laura is a challenge. Smoke has always been a sucker for a challenge, he just can't leave them alone til he's conquered them.
Conquering Laura is a risk, she's Jack's cousin, Jack is not only his friend, but his employer too. Still she's a risk he has to take. As a pilot, his career comes first, and always gives him the option to fly away. He'll never let a woman tie him down again.
The chemistry between them definitely has the sparks flying, but will the scars of the past only lead them to crash and burn?
The Summer Lake series follows a group of friends from a small lakeside town in the California hills. They have kept in touch over the years and now, in their early thirties, their lives are drawing them back to Summer Lake and to each other.
This book is intended for adult readers 18+

A return to the wonderful small town so many readers have grown to love. We'll see our old friends around town and they'll feature to a greater or lesser extent in the new stories. I want you to be able to catch up on their lives if you know them - and to not feel like you're missing anything if you didn't read the original series.

Another great addition to this series. I want to live in Summer Lake. S.J. McCoy's writing style pulls you in the story, grips you tight, and doesn't let you go until you have finished reading. Smoke (and yes he is smoking hot) is a pilot for Laura's cousins. Laura designs jewelry (she has designed rings for her cousins whom we met in previous stories). There is so much more to learn about Smoke. We have had encounters with Smoke from the previous books, but we really get to know who he is and what his background is like. Both Laura and Smoke are runners. They run from situations that make them feel. They have their own ideas of what they want and don't want in a relationship. As you read this book you will feel as if Smoke is taking you on a flight and doing lots of dives and loops. Man do these two make life difficult. Dual point of views. We even get a few scenes from previous characters point of views. No cliffhanger. We know from the author that Michael's story is next. I keep waiting on Ben's story because he is such a caring character. Pick up the series. You won't be disappointed.Product details

Fly Like You've Never Been Grounded Summer Lake 4 edition by SJ McCoy Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I liked this book the most so far!! Love how they both has walls and broke thru each others walls. Perfect story of life right now how easy walls can be put down once you find the right person to spend your life with.
Books four doesn't disappoint in this series. This one is about Smoke and Laura and their journey together. Its great to watch these two work out their past life experiences to get together. While still bringing the continuation of other couples and the new ones to come.
I just finished the fourth book in the series and can't wait till the next one. I think I need to go back and read them all again to catch all the little details I likely missed the first time through because I was in such a hurry to see what happened next. If you haven't read this series, do it NOW! You won't regret it.
Laura and Smoke both have a lot of emotional baggage to work through. This story deals with that working through process very well. The characters in this series seem so real;like actual friends we might have. Looking towards reading #5.
I really do love this series. I am giving it a 4 rating because of the misspelled words and the lack of a word where there should be one. Don't think I am judging this too harshly. It drives me crazy to read books with errors. My issue not anyone else's. I have really grown to love all of the characters in SJ's books. She does a great job building the characters and relationships. I am really looking forward to reading about Michael next. I assume there will be a future book about Chance and Ben too. Both of those stories would hold great possibilities. The little snippits of information that have been in the first four books about those three men are enough to make me want to get the coming books. I love the way the new characters are introduced. I highly recommend this series. It is sexy, funny and I love a good romance.
This book, and this series (Summer Lake)....words cannot describe...
I have followed SJ McCoy since her first book, and I love her books, and her writing style!
SJ's writing is fresh, refreshing, full of good analogies, and the story line is AMAZING!
Laura and Smoke....
I have to start with Smoke! He's an alpha male, and has been deserving of a book since the first mention of him flying a plane! All the men in Summer Lake are phenomenal, but I have been waiting for Smoke's story....and Ben's (which his is coming)! Smoke, SJ describes his beautifully, and he's my favorite so far! Smoke has a complex story that explains why he is the way he is! I applaud SJ for bein able to write so much detail about her characters; she includes their past story, and meshes it perfectly with the person they are today!
Laura, we all know who she is (BECAUSE you have to read all the other Summer Lake stories to get to this point), and she is a beauty with a story! She is an alpha female, and she has her barriers! She has no expectations of men!
BUT these 2 together.....let's say it leads to one complex, heart-wrenching, steamy story!
SJ's writing style is so complex, and dynamic! This story will keep you hooked, and begging for more!
I cannot wait for the rest of the men to have their story, and if the next books are anything like the last 3, they get better (like a good port wine)!
I loved this book, and I think it was a great addition to this series. When these two get together, they practically burst into a raging inferno from so much heat. I love the playful banter, and the competitiveness between these two, too. All the stories so far have been about people who were so different from one another, but not this one. Smoke and Laura were like two pea's in a pod. They both suffered major heartbreak in the past, then went into hiding. And they both had a habit of running away, when someone tried to get to close. Neither of them felt as though they could trust anyone, but with good cause, at lease in Smoke's case.
I just hope Leanne decides to keep her distance for awhile.
I love the way the author intertwines the whole cast of characters from the previous books, without making it all muddled, or confusing for the reader. I do think the author is playing with us though---- because from a lot of the reviews I've read----it's apparently clear that I am not the only one waiting with bated breath for Ben's story. From his stunned reaction when his Ex's name was mentioned at the recent get together, and from the little bit of information he'd shared with Smoke later that week, I have the feeling that his story is going to be the best one, yet. We know from the author that Michael's story is next. But I can't help it; I keep waiting on Ben's story because he is a man of mystery, yet, such a caring character.
Do yourselves a big favor and pick up this series. I promise.... You will NOT be disappointed.
